BEE 544 - Hydraulics of Open Channels

Course Description

Steady, uniform, and nonuniform flow in natural and artificial open chennels, unsteady flow; interaction of flow with river structures; computational methods.  Recommended:  CE 313.

Course Objectives

The student, upon completion of this course, should be able to:

  • Recognize river and stream systems as natural, integrated morphological systems.
  • Understand the fluvial processes that go towards forming a stable, equilibrium channel system.
  • Be able to design lined (i.e. engineered) channels and channel structures .
  • Be able to design and analyze unlined (i.e. natural) channels and channels structures.
