Oregon’s agricultural, food and fiber industry supports a number of other industries through their direct economic activity of $32.4 billion dollars, and all together a total of $50.2 billion dollars of sales throughout the Oregon economy are tied to the industry. Five production agricultural sectors had sales over $500 Million in 2014; all other crop farming (primarily hay), beef production, and greenhouse and nursery production had the highest sales. Oregon’s food processing industry includes nearly 50 different types of businesses with total sales of $15.7 billion, these sales supported an additional $7.3 billion in sales among supporting industries. Three agricultural processing sectors generated more than 1 million in sales including frozen fruits, juices, and vegetables, breweries, and fluid milk manufacturing. The agricultural, food and fiber production and processing exports accounted for 10.9 percent of all exports in Oregon, or a total of $15.2 billion in sales.
