Degree:

BS Ecological Engineering

Graduation Year:

2015

Current Occupation:

My current occupation is as a an EIT, doing design and planning for small cities in the Willamette Valley. This is for Westech Engineering in Salem, a small consulting engineering firm with a long history serving small cities in the valley. I primarily produce design contract documents (construction drawings & specs) for water supply, wastewater collection/ treatment and irrigation projects. This is usually for public works at municipalities or for rural water supply and wastewater cooperatives/districts. I have worked a bit on recycled water reuse and infrastructure and hope to do more in the future.

How did OSU prepare you for your job?

OSU provided me much of the applied science that I use regularly: soil science, chemistry, biology, and physics.  Eco E provided a good breadth of hard engineering skills, such as problem solving, dimensional analysis, GIS, fluids/hydraulics, and irrigation systems.

Advice to Current Students:

Don't hesitate to ask professors to repeat subjects. There is too much material to remember it all. Also, its as important to study as it is to network with other students and get an understanding of and connection with industry and other workplaces, such as institutes or universities. Feel free to reach out to connect on linked in or email. Good luck!
