Tessa Hanson

Degree: BS Ecological Engineering

Graduation Year: 2014

Current Occupation:

I am currently working towards obtaining my M.S. in Hydraulics & Stream Restoration (a subset of Civil Engineering) at Colorado State University. I have worked in the field of stream restoration for several years and hope to continue once I complete my graduate studies.

How did OSU prepare you for your job?:

Ecological Engineering gave me the freedom to study both ecological and hydraulic aspects of streams. I've found that most of my colleagues who obtained their undergraduate degrees in other fields of engineering lack this balance. This diverse set of skills has also facilitated work with professionals from other disciplines (i.e. geomorphology, fish biology, etc.) on restoration projects.

Advice to current students:

I would advise all Ecological Engineering students to get field experience early, it will help you focus your interests and make professional connections!
